My professional career started in 1976 with an education as a mathematical-technical assistant (similar to the education
at the Universities of Cooperative Education [Berufsakademie]).
Then I worked for several years as a systems programmer, developer, development manager and chief executive officer in software companies
developing software systems in the field of document management, security management and data center automation
for large data centers utilizing IBM's mainframe operating systems MVS and OS/390 (called z/OS nowadays).
In October 1995 I started studying Computer Science, Mathematics and Economics at the
University of Kaiserslautern, where I received the diploma (Master's degree) in January 2001.
Since April 2004 I am scientific advisor for A-Z Technology AG, a company working
in the field of knowledge-management, developing and distributing software products in the field of information retrieval for private and
commercial customers.
During this time the development of the products A-Z NewsReader and A-Z SiteReader occurred. Some special features of these products, which are developed and marketed as stand-alone solutions and can be integrated into other products, are described here.
My research interests include knowledge management, information retrieval, machine learning, and data mining.
